From a Simple Cruise Night List to One of Alberta's Largest Automotive Communities

Celebrating 10 Years of Community, Friendship, and Automotive Culture Across Alberta

Back in 2016, we found ourselves asking the same question over and over again:

"Did we miss Car Night again?"

It sounds simple enough to figure out, but at the time finding accurate information about local cruise nights, car meets, and automotive events was surprisingly difficult. Event pages were often years out of date, websites hadn't been updated in seasons, and social media groups rarely had current information.

Like many enthusiasts, we had finally reached the point where our projects were running reliably enough to leave the garage. We had spent countless hours wrenching on cars and trucks and special interest vehicles, sourcing parts, fixing mechanical issues, and cleaning them up just enough to be presentable.

Then came the realization:

We had nowhere to go!

For anyone entering a new hobby, you already know whether it's classic cars, off-roading, motorsports, fishing, or collecting memorabilia, one of the most frustrating challenges is finding community events and accurate information.

The Beginning of Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows

A few of us put our heads together, and Jessica took the lead on what began as a personal passion project.

The original goal was simple: Create a reliable list of local cruise nights and automotive events around Edmonton, Alberta.

What then started as a small single page spreadsheet quickly evolved into something much bigger.

Within a short time, we had assembled a schedule that allowed enthusiasts to attend events virtually every night of the week. Whether you drove a classic muscle car, lifted truck, hot rod, sports car, custom build, daily driver, or simply wanted to meet like-minded people, there was somewhere to go and an address to tell you what time it was happening.

As word spread, automotive clubs and event organizers from across Alberta began reaching out.

Soon we weren't just tracking Edmonton events anymore.

We were documenting cruise nights, coffee meets, show-and-shines, charity events, poker runs, weekend and cross country cruises, drive-in movie nights, seasonal celebrations, and community gatherings across the entire province and beyond.

Building Alberta's Automotive Network

The schedule eventually stretched from:

  • Fort Chipewyan in the north
  • Lloydminster in the east
  • Milk River in the south
  • Jasper in the west

And covers nearly every small town across Alberta with a Cars & Coffee or Cruise Night event in between.

Some gatherings only attract a handful of local enthusiasts, while others are well known to fill parking lots with hundreds of vehicles from surrounding towns and villages each week. What unites them all is a shared passion for automotive culture and community.

For many enthusiasts, that printed cruise schedule has become a permanent fixture in their glove box.

Whether someone was travelling for work, visiting family for a long weekend, or simply exploring Alberta's back country roads, they can check the schedule and in 10 seconds or less discover a local meet almost anywhere in the province on any day of the week with special event posters and banners listed online.

More Than Cars

What surprised us most when this started wasn't the vehicles.

It was the people.

The friendships formed through Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows have become the foundation of what makes this network so special.

Members have:

  • Helped each other complete restoration projects.
  • Shared knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Assisted with roadside repairs.
  • Organized charity fundraisers.
  • Supported local businesses.
  • Connected enthusiasts with trusted suppliers.
  • Built lifelong friendships.
  • Some even met future spouses and significant others along the way.

What started as a list of cruise nights on a spread sheet has became something far more meaningful.

It has became a family.

Creating Opportunities Through Community

Since June 10th 2016, Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows has worked alongside dealerships, small businesses, local clubs, and community organizations throughout Alberta.

These partnerships have helped:

  • Create member discounts and special pricing opportunities.
  • Support local events and automotive gatherings.
  • Promote charitable initiatives.
  • Increase participation in local clubs.
  • Revitalize communities and dormant organizations.
  • Encourage the preservation of automotive history.

Many long-standing clubs experienced renewed support within their communities after being featured along side Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows, while new clubs were founded with a new outlook on ways to help them reach members they may never have been able to connect with otherwise.

The result has been a stronger and more connected automotive community throughout Alberta.

Signature Events That Bring Enthusiasts Together

As the community continued to grow, so do the events.

Rocky Mountain Rumble

One of the most memorable events to date is the Rocky Mountain Rumble, hosted in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta along with many other local and  small businesses throughout the Clearwater the community with partners such as Rainbow Ford in support of Compassionate Care Hospice Society and many other charities throughout the years.

These types of annual events have brought together enthusiasts from across Alberta for:

  • Show & Shine competitions
  • Poker chip runs
  • Team dinners
  • Community networking
  • Awards and recognition
  • Family-friendly entertainment

What makes the Rocky Mountain Rumble so special isn't just the vehicles—it is the atmosphere. Participants convoy from all across of the province to celebrate automotive culture while exploring one of Alberta's most scenic regions.

Wings & Wheels

Another unique collaboration has been Wings & Wheels, a partnership between Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows, Alberta Air Tours, and other local aviation organizations.

The events combined:

  • Classic and custom vehicles
  • Aviation flight & aerospace displays
  • Regional airport tours
  • Community barbecues
  • Live music
  • Family activities

Connecting pilots, drivers, and enthusiasts from multiple communities demonstrated how shared passions can bring people together in unexpected ways.

Partner Clubs Helping Build Stronger Communities

Over the years, Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows and Munro Industries has worked with several organizations that continue to strengthen Alberta's local culture.

Alberta Jeep Meet (AJM)

Founded in 2020, Alberta Jeep Meet focuses on:

  • Safe off-road recreation
  • Weekend trail rides
  • Camping adventures
  • Recovery and repair education
  • Community involvement

AJM has created an environment where newcomers and experienced wheelers alike can learn, explore, and enjoy Alberta's incredible trail systems safely and responsibly.

Alberta Air Tours

Trails 4 Tomorrow (T4T)

Trails 4 Tomorrow plays a critical role in protecting recreational access and ensuring sustainable trail systems remain available for future generations of off-road enthusiasts.

Their work reminds us that preserving our hobbies requires active participation and responsible stewardship.

The Role of Munro Industries

As Alberta's enthusiast communities expanded, so do the opportunities to support them.

Through sponsorship programs and partnerships, Munro Industries has worked to provide club members with access to:

  • Automotive parts
  • Tires and wheels
  • Construction and building materials
  • Manufacturing and supply services
  • Project support
  • Industry networking opportunities

Supporting an enthusiast community to us means supporting the people who invest countless hours preserving vehicles, maintain structures and critical systems, traditions, and sharing knowledge and skills with the next generation.

Why Community Matters More Than Ever

Today's enthusiasts have access to more information than ever before. Yet one challenge remains surprisingly consistent:

Finding accurate, up-to-date event information.

  • Every year, cruise nights change locations.
  • Regulations change.
  • Restaurants close.
  • Parking lots become unavailable.
  • Meeting times shift.
  • Event organizers retire.
  • New clubs emerge.

That is why maintaining accurate schedules remains one of the most important services Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows provides.

Ironically, every time an updated schedule is released, organizers suddenly discover outdated information and reach out with corrections.

We welcome those updates.

In fact, we encourage them.

The schedule is only as accurate as the information shared by the clubs, organizers, businesses, and the people who use it.

Help Us Build the Cruise Night Schedule!

As we prepare Alberta's next annual cruise schedule, we are asking all clubs, organizers, businesses, and community leaders to help us keep the information current.

Before we spend countless hours verifying locations and times:

  • Confirm your event details.
  • Notify us of schedule changes.
  • Submit new cruise nights.
  • Share seasonal updates.
  • Let us know about special events.

Together, we can continue to help provide Albertans with the most comprehensive events and resources.

Looking Forward to the Next 10 Years

What began as a simple answer to a simple question over 10 years ago has evolved into one of Alberta's most recognized automotive communities.

  • Thousands of members.
  • Hundreds of events.
  • Countless friendships.
  • And an endless number of stories created one cruise night at a time.

To everyone who has attended an event, shared a schedule, volunteered their time, sponsored an activity, welcomed a new member, or simply showed up with a positive attitude:

Thank you!

You are the reason Alberta Cruisin' & Car Shows continues to grow and flourish.

Here's to another decade of friendship, adventure, road trips, campfires, show-and-shines, trail rides, cruise nights, and unforgettable memories.

We'll see you at the next meet!
